So why “das Kritz”?

It’s simple: our story began in Kritzendorf near Klosterneuburg. That’s where we opened our first restaurant – and that’s how “das Kritz” came to be.

Since then, life has brought us to Vienna – to the Spittelberg, to be precise, where our small big dream has found a new home.

das Kritz – that’s us: Nicolas, Sophie and Matteo.

For us, das Kritz is more than a restaurant. It’s our shared labour of love, our home and a place where we can do exactly what we love: being hosts, cooking, enjoying good food and bringing people together.

Our kitchen revolves around classic Austrian cooking – but always our way. Some dishes are based on Grandma’s recipes, some get a modern twist, and sometimes we simply cook whatever is on our minds. New inspiration, old memories, good produce and a whole lot of joy in cooking decide what ends up on your plate.

And a visit should feel just as uncomplicated as our food: warm, personal and relaxed. No frills – just good food, good wine and a cosy, gemütlich time.
